[ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 01:59:35 11/15/02 Fri Author: Kristin Subject: Getting Giles Back 8/8 That night at 6:00, everyone was sitting down to dinner. Everyone was in a good mood, Giles was here and they seemed to have gotten the old Buffy back. Everyone, that is, except Buffy. She was putting on a good front not wanting to ruin the others good mood. She was managing to convince everyone except Dawn. Dawn had heard the nightmares last night since her room was next to her sisters and she had heard Buffy crying earlier. She knew it had to do with Giles but even she couldn't figure this one out. Speaking of Giles, he was so nervous about how these people, whom he considered family, would react to his announcement that he, normally the first to notice whenever anything was wrong with Buffy, hadn't noticed yet. After dinner the adjourned to the living room for coffee and tea, or hot chocolate in Dawn's case. Not really knowing where to start, Giles just looked around the room and the people who had come to mean so much to him. His eyes stopped on Buffy last and he started when he saw the pain and sadness in her eyes. Why didn't I notice this before? He berated himself for being so preoccupied that he hadn't noticed Buffy's obvious distress. Before he had a chance to ask her what was wrong, Anya broke the silence by asking, "What do you want tell us? I could be having orgasms with Xander right now." Xander choosing to pretend that Anya hadn't just said that said, "Yeah, G-man. What's the big news." "Don't call me that," Giles replied automatically. He took a deep breath and then said, "I've decided to move back to Sunnydale." The room was very quiet for a minute as everyone digested this news. Then there were twin squeals of delight as Dawn and Willow captured him in a giant hug. Xander and Tara just smiled while Anya said, "I'm glad you're coming back, but you can't have the shop back." Giles just laughed and said, "Don't worry, Anya, the shop is still yours." Giles was glad that everyone was so happy that he was moving back to Sunnydale. He was a little worried though because he hadn't heard Buffy say anything yet. He turned to her and saw unshed tears in her eyes. "Are you really coming home?" she asked quietly. Home, Giles thought, I wonder when I started thinking of Sunnydale as home. Even when I went back to England, it wasn't home anymore. "Yes," he replied. "I'm really coming home." With those words the dam burst and tears started streaming down Buffy's face. Giles was at her side in an instance. Dawn and Xander, who she had recruited to her way of thinking, dragged Willow and Anya into the kitchen with an amused Tara following behind. Dawn had never been able to keep a secret from Xander and he had surprisingly enough agreed with her about Buffy and Giles. After seeing how they had acted around each other since Giles had gotten here, he couldn't do anything but agree. Giles, hating to see Buffy in tears, hurriedly pulled her into his arms and asked, "What's wrong, luv?" He was so worried about her that he didn't even notice what he had said. Buffy did though and it made her feel good inside and gave her hope. "Nothing," she replied. "I'm just so happy." "Really?" Giles asked a little surprised. He tried to pull back so he could see her face but Buffy just held him tighter. "Really," Buffy whispered in his ear. "I've missed you so much." "Oh, Buffy," he breathed and held her back just as tight. They just sat there for a while, neither one of them saying a word. Unbeknownst to them, they had acquired an audience. Dawn, unable to keep her curiosity in check, had snuck into the dining room to watch and the others had followed her. She had explained the situation to everyone in the kitchen. Anya in her usual way just said, "Good. I hope they give each other lots of orgasms." Tara had smiled; she couldn't believe that she hadn't noticed in before. Willow just looked at them all like they were crazy, but followed anyway to see what was happening. "Did you mean what you said?" Buffy asked breaking the silence. She hadn't planned on asking but her curiosity got the better of her. "That I was staying?" Giles asked, confused. "Of course I am. I wouldn't lie about something like that." "No. I know that," Buffy replied, pulling back so she could see his face. "Did you mean it when you called me love?" Giles looked confused for a second and then started to blush when he realized what he had accidentally given away. He looked into her expecting to find… well he wasn't sure what he was expecting to find but it certainly wasn't the hope that he saw. Seeing that hope convince to do what he next did. He leaned forward and gently kissed her. At first she was too shocked to do anything. Oh my God! she thought. Giles is kissing me. Giles is kissing me! Spurred into action she wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him back. Xander, Anya, and Tara smiled. Xander managed to get his hand over Willow's mouth to muffle her "Eep!" of surprise before it came out. Dawn just stood there with a huge grin on her face trying not to squeal in delight. In the living room, Buffy suddenly pulled herself away from Giles and curled herself into the corner of the couch. I'm dirty, she thought to herself. I'm so dirty. He couldn't want me. "Buffy?" Giles asked worriedly. She had responded to his kiss but maybe it was just an automatic reaction. "I'm dirty," Buffy managed to say. "I'm so dirty." "Oh, Buffy," he said, his heart breaking for this poor girl who had had to endure so much. "Buffy, luv, you're not dirty." He pulled her back into his arms. She fought against him half-heartedly but finally allowed him to hold her. "I feel dirty," she said. "Giles, I love you and I want to be with you but I don't think I'm ready for anything like that right now." "Buffy," Giles replied, tears in his eyes, "I love you, too. And I will wait until you are ready. I want you to be comfortable and we can take things as slow as you'd like." "You really mean that?" Buffy asked hopefully. She didn't want to lose him now that she had finally gotten him. "Of course, Buffy," Giles replied. Buffy smiled and leaned forward and kissed him again. They were interrupted this time by Dawn who was no longer able to control her excitement and squealed in happy delight. Buffy and Giles turned and stared at their friends in shock not really knowing what to say. They both wanted their friends to be happy for them but they weren't sure how they would react. They saw however that all of them were smiling back at the couple, happy for them. Even Willow who, after getting over her initial shock, had seen how right they were together and wanted them to be happy. Buffy knew that she still had issues to work through but each day she got a little bit better. She knew too though that with Giles and her friends by her side that it would all work out. She sighed in happy contentment still holding on to Giles. Right now everything was good and peaceful and she just wanted to stay there as long as she could. ***************************************************** The End (for now) [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ]
