Bad Company is still a fine sound and I listen to them from time to time along with CCR, old Aerosmith, Uriah Heep, etcetera. they just weren't on the tip of my brain while I was perusing this thread.

I kinda like this creedence take off too, now I'm thinkin' of it:

Chili fields
by (I have no idea)

When I was a little bitty baby
My mamma would rock me in the cradle
In them old chili fields back home.

It was down in Canutillo
Just about a mile from the Rio Bravo
In them old chili fields back home.

When them chili peppers ripen
You better pick em before they swipe 'em
In them old chili fields back home.

It was down in Canutillo
Just about a mile from the Rio Bravo
In them old chili fields back home.

And you better learn to speak the lingo
Or they'll call you a dirty gringo
In them old chili fields back home.

It was down in Canutillo
Just about a mile from the Rio Bravo
In them old chili fields back home.

When the sun comes up maņana
They'll be smokin' marijuana
In them old chili fields back home.
-------------------------------

probably a regional thing...

Ahh, Bad Company. I didn't used to like them but I do now.

WHAT'S WRONG WITH STAIND? STAIND IS GREAT. You just don't know, Rachel. And Evanescence too; they are great.

Radiohead is the best. Ever. And Incubus is really good. And Hoobastank and Modest Mouse and . . . there are so many songs I like and don't know who does them. There seems to be a trend though, towards really depressing stuff. Or maybe it's just that I notice it more. Ah, the White Stripes, though, they're not depressing. Switchfoot and Five Iron Frenzy - good stuff.

But the oldies, yeah . . . good old stuff. Queen, Pink Floyd and Boston are at the top of my favorites. And the Police. Van Halen is a sentimental favorite, but their lyrics are really stupid, mostly. I just like to listen to Eddie's guitar and Alex's drums. They absolutely sucked in concert.

What's your best concert ever? I'd have to say for show quality - Creed was the best; it was amazing. Newsboys are a very close second though because they have this great round drum riser thing. Two drummers sit on it, facing each other, and the whole thing rises up, tips completely sideways and SPINS while the two drummers are playing. It's awesome. It is it is. And the Supertones get points for great brass and ginormous afro wigs and stuff. You'd have to see it. One of the best concerts I've seen though was Carolyn Arends - who I'm sure no one has ever heard of because she's only fairly well known in Christian music, but at the concert it was just her with her guitar and some guy who played a bunch of other instruments, including a mean shaker ball, and it was great. She's very wordy, which I like. During the concert her husband leaned against the light switch and accidentally turned the lights up. Yeah, it was a small concert. OOh and Small Town Poets! They were great too. Another little known Christian band but they played their little hearts out, they did.

If Radiohead ever comes near here, I must go.

Criminy, I do get carried away don't I? If you read the whole thing, yay for you. =)

I'm not sure the depressing bit is that new...

Time
by Pink Floyd

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way.
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way.

Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain.
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.

So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again.
The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older,
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.

Every year is getting shorter never seem to find the time.
Plans that either come to nought or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over,
Thought I'd something more to say.

Breath Reprise

Home, home again.
I like to be here when I can.
When I come home cold and tired
It's good to warm my bones beside the fire.
Far away across the field
The tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spells.

I love that one. I just listened to Dark Side of the Moon.

But there's all these songs that feed my anger, like this one:

Just Like You
(by Three Days Grace)

I could be mean, I could be angry
you know i could be just like you

I could be fake, I could be stupid
you know i could be just like you

You thought you were standing beside me
you were only in my way
you're wrong if you think that i'll be just like you (just like you)

Chourus:
You thought you were there to guide me
you were only in my way
you're wrong if you think that i'll be just like you

You thought you were there to guide me
you were only in my way
you're wrong if you think that i'll be just like you

I could be cold, I could be ruthless
you know i could be just like you

I could be weak, I could be senseless
you know i could be just like you

You thought you were standing beside me
you were only in my way
you're wrong if you think that i'll be just like you (just like you)

You thought you were there to guide me
you were only in my way
you're wrong if you think that i'll be just like you

You thought you were there to guide me
you were only in my way
you're wrong if you think that i'll be just like you

On my own, cause i can't take living with you
I'm alone, So I won't turn out like you want me to

You thought you were standing beside me
you were only in my way
you're wrong if you think that i'll be just like you (just like you)

You thought you were there to guide me
you were only in my way
you're wrong if you think that i'll be just like you

You thought you were there to guide me
you were only in my way
you're wrong if you think that i'll be just like you

I could be mean, i could be angry
you know i could be just like you

****

Three Days Grace also does "I Hate Everything About You", another good angry one.

Music to feed your emotions. I know that one! I found that every day on my way to work I was singing this one particular song, and now I don't sing it anymore. The song, which will probably be one you've never heard unless you're a major freak of a "Buffy" fan like I am, is one about...well, judge for yourself:

(Buffy's opening song, from "Once More With Feeling")

Every single night, the same arrangement
I go out and fight the fight.
Still I always feel this strange estrangement
Nothing here is real, nothing here is right.

I've been making shows of trading blows
Just hoping no one knows
I'm just going through the motions
Walking through the part
Nothing seems to penetrate my heart

I was always brave and kind of righteous
Now I find I'm wavering
Crawl out of your grave, you find this fight just
doesn't mean a thing
(She ain't got that swing)
(Thanks for noticing)

(Vampire Chorus:
She does pretty well with fiends from hell
but lately we can tell
She's just going through the motions
Faking it somehow
She's not even half the girl she...ow...)

Will I stay this way forever?
Sleepwalk through my life's endeavor?
(How can I repay...?)
(Whatever.)
I don't want to be...
Going through the motions
Losing all my drive.
I can't even see
If this is really me
And I just want to be
Alive.

Ah well, it exactly fit what I was feeling this last ten months. So I ditched my job with the agency for a bigger better scarier job, and now, I'm singing a different tune. Goes a little something like this...

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAgh! Help! Help! What am I doing here?!!! Who am I kidding? EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEkkkkkkk!

:-)
