Subject: Can God tell time?

Can God tell time?

Over tow thousand years ago John the Baptizer said "Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. (Matthew 3:2) Jesus, Son of God echoed those words "the kingdom of heaven is at hand. (Matthew 4:17). John the beloved Apostle was told in Revelation 22:9 "Do not seal the words of the prophecy of this book for the time is at hand.

A common error that is taught in response to the imminence of these time statements is. "Well yes, the Bible said the these things were (at hand but One day is with the Lord as a thousand years and a thousand years is as a day. God doesn't see time as man does; He is above time. Is there anything wrong with this statement? Well, if God cannot tell time there isn't! But if God can tell time there is. These unBiblical statements lead untold numbers of Christians away from the truth of God's word. When preterist teach covenantal eschatology we are challenging people to rightly divide the word of truth.

There was a devout man named Simeon whom the Lord had (promised he should not die) until he saw the Lord's Consolation of Israel. And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ. So he came by the Spirit into the temple. And when the parents brought in the Child Jesus, to do for Him according to the custom of the law, he took Him up in his arms and blessed God and said:

Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace, (According to Your word;) For my eyes have seen Your salvation Which You have prepared before the face of all peoples, A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel. (Luke 2:25-32)

This subject is about several thing. It is about the inspiration of the scripture; it is about the faithfulness of God; it is about God's ability to communicate with mankind; it is about leaving the traditional of men behind; It is about changing our preconceived ideas to bring them into harmony with God's word.

In Matthew 26:62-64 Jesus (promised Caiaphas the High priest) that he would see Him return on the clouds of heaven. Jesus said to him, "It is as you said. Nevertheless, I say to you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven." verse 64. If Jesus does not keep the WHEN part of his promises, he has not kept his promise at all and cannot be a prophecy or the Son of God.

The inspiration of the scripture demands complete fulfillment of every aspect of God's promises. If the Bible set a time for something to happen, and that thing did not occur at the time it was predicted what would this mean? Quite simply, It would mean the Bible is not inspired. Here are some verses to consider: And the LORD said to me: "What they have spoken is good. I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren, and will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him. And it shall be that whoever will not hear My words, which He speaks in My name, I will require it of him. But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in My name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.' And if you say in your heart, "(How shall we know the word which the LORD has not spoken?' when a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD has not spoken;) the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him. (Deuteronomy 18:17-22) It is very important to understand these things. The Bible says if a time is set by a prophecy of God the thing must occur at the time it was predicted.
