Allow me to say this...
God is not a man, nor is His thought process as our thought process. Yes, John the Baptist and Jesus both said the Kingdom was at hand, and guess what, it came.
What?
Yep, it came with the birth of the New Testament church. We are the Kingdom here on earth. Does that mean we live in the Kingdom age, or that all prohetic events are fulfilled? Not in the slightest.
God has established His Kingdom here through the NT Church. We are the fulfillment of those words of prophecy. However, we have not by no means seen the end of all prophecies. Preterist doctrine claims we have seen all prophetic events fulfilled, but that is simply not true. They claim that all events up to Revelation 20:10 has already been fulfilled, and that we can basically sit back and prop our feet up, and just wonder about getting to Heaven.
Truth be told, I believe preterism is one of the most sinister and dangerous heresies around, and as such, should be defended against.
But, I really want to point out the statement you made at the end of your post. You said, "It is very important to understand these things. The Bible says if a time is set by a prophecy of God the thing must occur at the time it was predicted." But, God did not give an exact time when these things were to come to pass. He said they would come to pass shortly, or soon. Guess what, the Kingdom (Church) is here, and thus set into motion the timetable of endtime events. Yeah, it has gone on for 2000 years, but guess what, we still have more time to go.
So, I pose this question, are we living in the age of Christ? Are we in the 1000 year reign of Jesus where satan is bound? If so, someone please wake me up, cause according to my life and the life of believers around me, the devil and his minions are running rampage over the world.
