It's not a proven fact that Yogananda ever signed his name with the extra 'a'. No such signature exists, anywhere, including Treasures Against Time (I looked). The only signature with the phantom 'a' is the one in the Autobiography of a Yogi, which is at best a mimeographed copy of a signature, at worst a forgery.

Until I see a real, not-copied-or-forged, signature with the 'a', I will believe Thomas and others. I have seen a few documents and books at Mother Center that were in reality signed by Yogananda. These weren't copies or mimeographs. All said 'Paramhansa'. There is also a business card at Hollywood Church (yes, Yogananda had a business card!) that shows his name to be Paramhansa Yogananda.

No, it's not a proven fact that Yogananda never-ever signed his name with the 'a', but the preponderance of the evidence is heavily weighted in that direction.
