The proof is easy.

If you feel a more peaceful, a more happy and a more loving person after your sadhana, it is OK, no matter what your do.

(example: washing dishes as an offering to the Divine can be a wonderful kriya)

If not, you are wasting your time.

You can rationalize all you want, but mind is not your friend. It is your enemy as long as it can not be quiet. Only then you can taste peace and bliss.
