The answer is, as you must know, "Yes. It really is true."



Stealth edits actually are made without proper notation of changes made. You might detect some, but not others. There's no practical way for us to tell what is, or is not, by Yogananda or by some editor. Integrity is lost.



You seek specific examples. I'm not interested in crusading with the people who already publicize examples of twisted alterations of photos, names, signatures, writings and audio recordings. I know about some of the concealment of PY writings, too, although this is less often discussed. My focus is on deep meditation, and not on trying to tear something down.



In order to respond to your request, here's a reiteration of a few examples we're all already familiar with.



E.G.; Yogananda sent his Bhagavad Gita commentaries for the printing presses to roll. Printing plates were fabricated to physically commence printing. I personally have discussed this with someone involved in these actions. They told me PY said, "If my books don't come out now, they'll never come out!" Then he died, SRF killed PY's directive and obstructed the printing until 1996. But can you tell what edits they made during about 45 years after PY passed? No. Integrity is lost.

After only 50 years, already we can't rely on what we read (edited), see (altered photos) or hear (altered audio recordings), or can access (voluminous concealed PY writings, some videos) as authentic representations of this great yogi's thoughts/instructions/inspirations. And about those withheld PY writings, some are books he tried to get printed and distributed during his life that SRF has instead decided to continue editing, and maybe we'll see something someday. Others are materials that SRF has decided are not for the lay members...we will never see them.



Again, to answer your question, "Yes. It really is true."
