I'm not sure that the critics in question would appreciate having their names posted .When you met these Kriyabans you probably introduced yourslf as a member of SRF,so they did not want to cause offence by expressing their true misgivings.I met a number of kriyabans from various lineages during my stay in India BEFORE I decided to join SRF.(So before you take offence,my position on the matter is obvious)
The main objections were:
The treatment of the life of Lahiri in The Autobiography.
The fact that a huge public organisation was formed around Kriya DIRECTLY against the ABSOLUTE INSISTENCE of Lahiri that no organisation should be formed
around the teachings of Kriya Yoga.Yogananda's 'inner assurances' were definitely NOT intheir view, the voice of Lahiri,so completely opposed was he to organisations being formed around Kriya.
The claims of SRF that Yogananda was the 'seal' of the gurus of the Kriya lineage.
Sri Yukteswar was NOT Lahiri's topmost disciple, that distinction went to Panchanon Battacharya (who incidentally opposed Giri Maharaj forming an organisation)
The public use of the title Paramahansa is seen as being rather distasteful regardless of it being bestowed by his guru.
As for my own view, well I love Yogananda.
I love SRF, thank God that the precise instructions of such a beautiful realised being are preserved in pristine form.I love the freedom I have as an SRF devotee to question the teachings.I love the suitability of the approach of SRF to the Western mind,we have the freedom to practice the teachings and keep ourselves to ourselves if we so wish.
However I'm certain that the differences I have outlined are well known and that names do not have to be mentioned to authenticate these ares of disagreement.
