I think you have a sound view of the Kriya movement. It is, after all, a development from the Gita through Shankara and Vedanta. What looked monolithic to casual Western students is not. They have not been very historically acute. This diversity does not prevent teachers and organizations from making claims for a particular sequence of exercises and lessons.
