I already called dibs on him after the very first episode! Simon is very, very lovely with his sister. There's just something about a cute, naive, intellectual guy devoted to his sister that tugs on your heartstrings. Also, loved that Simon stopped to save that man's life in the hospital. He's given up his calling for River but he still can't deny it when faced with hurting people.

You know, I kept waiting and waiting for Jayne to change his mind about selling out Simon and River. I really and truly expected him to cave in to his morals and decide not to hand them over. But no, Jayne was completely prepared to betray them. But the Federal officer beat him to it. OTOH, I don't want Simon to figure out that Jayne had betrayed him. Not just yet. Simon's admiration for Jayne can be milked for some serious angst if Jayne feels any guilt, which he might after a while. Later, Simon can find out (maybe through River who might know?) that Jayne had ratted them out, causing much disillusionment. Oh, nummy story possibilities!

Fox better not cancel. I will be most unhappy if they do.
