I think showing the Firefly pilot first would have helped prevent the ratings slide the show has suffered. I think a lot of people that tuned in for "Train Job" walked away not really getting the show. 'twas a huge mistake on Fox's part, and I think even some of the execs have come to realize that. Test audiences have told us that they're confused by certain things about the show. They have questions. The pilot has answers.

Hopefully they'll promote the crap out of the pilot's airing in December and we can kind of re-launch the show then. Get some new viewers, answer some unanswered questions and start a ratings uptick that will continue for 7 or 8 years. Sounds good, doesn't it?

Thanks for all the compliments about "Ariel" -- it was a lot of fun to write. (So much fun, in fact, that I was compelled to write about writing it!)

In terms of TV execs admitting they're wrong... it's not likely to happen. But hopefully they'll recognize that they have in Firefly something that's unique and cool and has tons of potential.

Cross your fingers for us. We should hear about our fate in the next few days.

Katarain - there hasn't been any real talk about moving the show to another night. If Fox were to pick us up, I'm pretty sure they'd want to keep their Friday night lineup intact.

Ojagwers - the recaps are done mainly by our editors and our associate producers, Lisa Lassek and Brian Wankum. As with all things, Joss has final approval.

Molly - Would I lie to you? I promised shirtless Mal and shirtless Wash, you're gonna get them! Get a drool bucket. :-)
