DANGER, DANGER, DANGER
I am about to rant!

As we are all no doubt aware, FOX is not gracing us with a new episode of Firefly tonight. In fact, they are not giving us an old episode either. Rather, they pre-empted Firely for the movie Happy Gilmore. This is the third time they have pre-empted the show in its very short existance.

Now, I have nothing personal against Adam Sandler (other than the fact that I'll never watch his movies). Neither WB nor UPN would pre-empt BtVS or AtS for an eight-year-old second-rate comedy movie. Most people mould their lives around habits which they have built up over time. Pre-empting a series will tend to break such habits. Not everyone are rabid fans like we are. The marginal fans have no chance to become solid fans when the continuity and scheduling of the show is so broken up.

As we have seen in the various on-line news reports, FOX has essentially served notice to Mutant Enemy. They have one last chance to build an acceptable audience. How can this happen when FOX is deliberately driving away any existing audience?

I believe it was R. A. Heinlein who said that stupidity was the only crime which carried its own punishment. I would love to see FOX fold as a result of their arrogant stupidity. Unfortunately, there are far too many people who watch FOX's unscripted television crap.
