Impeachment of Johnson
*RADICALS
-Johnson been in the way of the Radical legislation
-looked for ways to remove him from office
-found a way whe johnson fired Secratary of war, though COngress did not agree
*TENURE OF OFFICE ACT
-JOhnson violated when he dismissed the secratary of war
-a reason to impeach jonhson
-radicals in the HOuse agreed and sent johnson to court for trial
*Trial
-lasted april through may
-the vote was 35 to 19 one vote short to impeachment
-so Radicals droped impeachment charges
