If one province does it, the rest of Canada may follow.

... but, frankly, given that Gibraltar, Malta and half a dozen other places have applied for incorporation within the UK and been denied, I can't see HMG accepting Newfoundland and Labrador into the Union. Indeed, even if they asked I doubt that Messers Blair and Brown would understand them, since Newfoundlanders have the most bizarre accent in the English-speaking world - after British Zambians and Keralans, of course.

Still, it would be something, wouldn't it! N&L petitioning to join Britain and being accepted! Half our work would be done, since the principle of the non-geographical state would be born: "as it was in days of long-ago, and as it still shall be..."

Of course, as things stand, it would only mean that Spanish fishing trawlers would come and fish Canada's Atlantic coast dry...

Here is a list of the all of the registered independence movements in Canada. Perhaps I should write to all of them outside of Quebec telling them about us.

The Western Canada Concept — Movement dedicated to building an independent nation of Western Canada.
Alberta Independence Party — Party which advocates the independence of Alberta under certain circumstances.
British Columbia Separatist Movement — Seek independence for the province.
BC Sovereignty — Advocate independence of British Columbia.
The Republic of Alberta — Dedicated to the secession of Alberta.
The Newfoundland Patriot — Advocate independence of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Ontario Independence League — Advocate independence of Ontario.
Parti Quebecois - separatist party in the Quebec National Assembly.
Bloc Quebecois - separatist party in the Canadian Federal Parliament.
Mouvement de libération nationale du Québec (MLNQ) — They seek independence for Quebec, the predominantly French-speaking province of predominantly English-speaking Canada, mainly to try to prevent their assimilation into the larger English-speaking world.

In 1934, Western Australia voted 2 to 1 to leave the Commonwealth of Australia and become a separate dominion of the British Empire.

HMG in London said that it couldn't accept such a move unless HMG in Canberra was in favour of it. Which it wasn't.

If it didn't work 70 years ago, it's hard to imagine it working now.
