Subject: Shafting

I purchased my set of 1-Irons fully intending to switch out the shafts for an extra-stiff flex True Temper shaft because my swing speed is so high. After one trip to the range I found that the shafting that 1 Iron Golf uses is magical. I just can't believe that all of the shafting garbage that I've heard over the past 30 years is just that - garbage! 1 Iron Golf has developed a method of shafting that blows me completely away because it works great for anybody with any swing speed. I know first hand because I bought a set for my wife and she kills the ball and loves the clubs using the same shaft that I have in mine. Like 1-Iron says, it's in the golf club balance and nothing more. By the way, I'm a 6 handicap and going down with my 1-Irons.

Reg, I had the same intention when I first got my 1-iron clubs. I figured, if I could hit these so well with a generic shaft just imagine how far I would hit them with custom shafts that matched my swing.
After a month of play with these clubs my only problem is, I hit them so much farther than my old clubs that I am having trouble believing that will happen every time. Consequently, I am sometime over the green because of this increase in length. This is a nice problem to have and I will easily adjust to the increased length.
I talked with David Lake on the phone and he explained the concept of matching the shaft to the clubhead. Makes sense to me and the results speak for themselves.
I will NOT be making any shaft changes to these clubs. I am a true believer.
