Subject: First Round With Titanium Driver

After a few sessions getting acclimated on the practice range, I finally had an opportunity to use the 1-Iron Titanium driver on the golf course.

The result: 11 of 14 fairways in regulation in bad conditions (rain-soaked course and 20-30 mph winds) with three near misses. And for the first time ever, I played a full round not only with one golf ball, but with a single tee.

All of which adds up to: Shorter driver = better contact = more accurate driving.

Because of the extreme conditions, I cannot honestly say I hit the 1-Iron Titanium driver shorter, farther, or the same distance, as my conventional model. I suspect total distance (carry plus roll) is comparable, perhaps a little bit less.

Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, given the accuracy of David's single-length irons. For my part, I would rather hit an 8-Iron from the short grass, than a Pitching wedge around a tree, out of the rough.

If you have an open mind and are hitting a standard-length driver with mixed results, the 1-Iron Titanium driver is definitely worth checking out.
