played a round today. Shot an 88 which is about avg for me. Here are some things that I noticed during the round.
1. I purchased the 3wood - lob wedge.
2. I still use my R11 taylormade driver

I could not get off the TEE. I hit 1 great drive with the driver and 1 great drive with the 3w. I think that the driver is messing up my swing. Started hooking the ball bad.

I did notice that although I did not get off the tee well, I hit a lot more solid shots with my IRONS. I did take an extra club as have not reached my full potential on distance yet(I did hit some shots longer than normal). In total I had 8 Pars and should have had 12 (miss some easy putts)

I'm wondering if I should get my driver cut shorter or sell the driver and purchase a 1 iron driver.

Any thoughts

thanks
Ed

yes the longer driver is playing havoc with your swing. Cutting down the driver destroys what little playability it has, Dont cut it just try placing your grip lower on the shaft,

The 1iron 3 wood plays very well as a driver, try it for a while off the T before a big purchase, then if more distance is required get the 1iron driver.

The 1iron driver works very well.

A good guide is place a tape around the grip every one inch from the butt end down. Hit 10 balls with each tape position, you will find there will suddenly be a sweet spot feel. and straight ball flight. What I found was at end of grip I would fade, the third tape position perfect straight to baby draw, farther down prone to some hooks.

After measuring from the tape where I hit the best, for me it ended up being 44"
