Subject: New clubs

My new 1 Irons arrived last Wednesday and they are beautiful and well balanced. You can definitely see and feel the quality that goes into these. Took them to the range on Thursday and started out hitting the #3 iron. I know that you're supposed to follow the tips that are included with the set but I wanted to see if the 1 Iron #3 iron would hit the ball as far as my old #3 iron since it is a couple of inches shorter in club length. My distance with my old #3 iron is 190 yards and I'd of been perfectly happy if the 1 Iron #3 could hit it as far or even a little shorter if I could gain some accuracy. On my first shot I aimed for a small range green at 195 yards that I always aimed for with my old #3 iron. Usually I would end up just short or right on the front edge of the green. I let her rip and the ball headed straight for the flag which made me feel great. But my jaw dropped when I flew the green by 10 yards. My second shot was a repeat of the first and so was my third and fourth. The worst shot I hit with the 1 Iron #3 was a toe hit that went 185 yards and pretty straight.

The #4 all the way through the PW was the same story - straight at the pin and about 5+ yards farther than I'm used to. All the irons are the same club length as my old #8 iron so the 1 Iron wedges are about and inch longer than my old ones which I thought might cause some problems - I was wrong! The 1 Iron wedges are amazing - perfect distance control and right on the pin every time.

I ordered the titanium driver and #5 and #7 wood today. If the woods play anything like the irons I'll be in 7th heaven.

Jesse,

I am glad to see that you are pleased with your new 1 Irons. I am sure that you will be very happy with your new 1 Iron Driver and fairway woods as well.

David Lake
