Subject: It's hard to

believe it's almost September! We have leaves that are beginning to fall already.... However, this has been a good year so far. No drought situation, and for once, my garden has done extremely well. I have been bringing a 1/4 bushel basket of tomatoes in to work every day now for two weeks. My summer squash, okra, and bell peppers are still going strong, as is the tomatoes. I have given away a lot of vegetables this year! My grass is still green and requires mowing often, which is unsual, because this time the past two years it has been so dry, grass was brown and crunchy. ANNNNNNNND, knock on wood, NO HURRICANES or Tropical Storms! Yet!!!!!
My chickens seem to be molting hard this year for some reason. Could be they are pretty old. I haven't raised any chicks since 2002 and my breeding stock is getting some age on them. I have some that is blind in one eye from fighting, one that is totally blind, and a couple limping around. I guess my youngest are at least seven years old. I told 'em as long as they live, they have a place to stay. It's just an ol' folks home for chickens!!
I'm still gimping around some from my surgery. I picked up a 1/2 bushel basket of tomatoes yesterday, forgetting I'm not supposed to pickup more than 20 lbs. So I'm paying for it now.... ohhh the pain!! Bet I don't do that again!
