I don't recall saying SS wasn't a problem, and I don't recall any of Bush's opponents as saying so, either. The quarrel comes with...

1. How to solve the problem... and
2. The Bush administration calling it a "crisi" and now as of Sunday with Cheney on Fox News Sunday, backing away from it.

So is the Social Security situation (that comes to a head in 2042, remember) the "crisi" that deserves this nation's FULL attention right now?

Nontheless, it's on the agenda now, and likely won't pass the Senate to begin with, but for the sake of argument, our legislative branch is allowing our executive branch to formulate their game plan before voting it down.

Yeah, it needs some work done to it. The debate is in the "how" not the "why."

OH, and LAWS "AND" REGULATIONS can cause the same "inconveniences" to business. The difference in the two words is in their defintion. Laws are created by elected officials or the voting public. Regulations aren't necessarily voted on. Semantics. Either way, government has to regulate business somewhat, or monopolies develop, unfair labor policies develop, pollution develops, etc. etc. etc.

Our education system can't make parents better parents. What would you suggest we do to make sure parents send kids to school who "desire" to learn? To have a good breakfast and plenty of sleep?
