 Apparently you are confused. It is a proven fact that private charities' overhead is lower than the government's. The reason we still have poor people is the reason we will always have poor people. They choose to be poor and you, nor the government, can spend them out of poverty.

Private charities operate very efficietly because they are accountable to their supporters. The government is so large and so far removed from the public eye that it builds large bureaucracies that do little more than shuffle papers.
