Subject: 1957 26' Sea Skiff Enclosed Flybridge
Hello to all in the club. My wife and I own a 1957 26' Sea Skiff, Enclosed Flybridge Cruiser 4 Sleeper model. This is a very nice little pocket cruiser. We bought the boat off "Bone Yard Row" at a local marina in CT in began a 10 month restoration process. That was 11 years ago. Since then we have improved ont he original restoration with a new cockpit deck, new power and a very thorough stripping and fairing of the hull. We have found this to be a very capable boat. We cruise the CT River, Long Island Sound and off to Newport, the Cape and Block Island. We would be interested in talking to others with similar boats about their skiffs and experiences. In the 11 years we have owned her, we have only seen or heard of 2 other similar (4 sleepers) boats. Both have faded from the scene.

Hello Mate!
I have a 58 26' Sea Skiff that had a hardtop installed by the second owner (I am the third). I am going to refinish the hull. It is in pretty good shape, but needs some sprucing up. What processes did you do and use. I have friends that like the Smith Systems with the CPS. Did you turn it over or work on your back? I am thinking about removing the hardtop and taking it back to original. I already have the engine out and think it would be pretty easy to turn it over once I removed the hardtop and interior. What do you think? Any advise?
Jeff

Steve,
I have a 1958 26 foot enclosed fly bridge cruiser
My boat is at the end of a fifteen year restoration, and should be ready for launch this coming season. I would very much like to share pictures of our boats to see what each others looks lke.
I belive that these boats are fairly rare because I have never seen any at any boat show that I have been to. Thanks Doug Chadwick

Have just purchased same boat 57 26' sea skiff with fly bridge. My uncles boat from moosehead lake ME.
sleeps four.. I am often on CT river as I live in Wethersfield and keep a catboat in Mystic as well. Plan on mooring in the cove at Wethersfield and join the Wethersfield yacht club (1908)
boat needs some cosmetic work as well as canvas and is basically very sound.
Neill.
yours is an older message, still motoring?

Hi Steve,
Boat currently in Old Wethersfield CT.
We (with partners) are in process of restoration.
Stem to Stern , top down.
Try to get one full day each week and have removed all metal parts, toe rails, quarter rounds, some top deck(cabin top) wood replacement and are almost ready to install Dynel surfacing.(thought about canvas, but after last Sunday at wooden boat show in Mystic we decided on the Dynel material.
Will replace cockpit sole with new plywood as original, and while deck is up will attack the engine, through hull fittings, update old head with pump out tank , new stainless water tank and any wiring which will be needed.
boat is currently 6volt and have to decide if we want to undertake a 12volt
conversion.
A lot left to do but we are ambitious as we would like to finish before end of summer! Everything always takes twice the time as expected.
Perhaps you can take a view of it sometime.
You can e-mail me at lnwalsh@cox.net
Neill
