First off, I am very happy to have found this forum. This thread is of particular interest to me.

We are a family of six with four children ranging in age from 5 to 14. We are looking for a classic utility for family jaunts on the Long Island Sound. Though a light air area, the L.I. Sound can get some serious chop in the afternoon, I am focusing on the Sea Skiff. We love the way it looks, and it is supposed to handle weather well.

I would very much appreciate opinions on keeping the boat in salt water? In our case, on a mooring for up to six months a year. I get a lot of opinions on this one. Though we are fully prepared for the increased maintenance (time and expense) associated with salt water, many think it is a bad idea. Also, is a 21' Sea Skiff large enough for my family? Thank you.
