We also have a 57 22' skiff and we have had the boat repowered to a 350. She really gets up and goes now. We also changed the prop size to a 14 square. YEP, she IS over propped but I have compensated for the torque with wedges on the bottom and a small homemade trim tab on the rudder. I am glad you have joined our club. Maybe we can get a rendezvous together next year in your area, Alan

Thanks for the warm welcome. I think I get your point, The BIGGER the better!! Just kidding. I realize that the 350 may give the torque needed for the 14" X 14; sounds cool. But I don't see dad repowering until we get the hull squared away. ( I kinda like the old flat head six ) I'm not sure what you mean by wedges. IS this like a steped hull sort of thing as on the offshore racers? (Fountian / Cigarette)and I'll also guess that the trim tabs on the rudder are to compinsate for the turbulant flow engulfing the entire rudder surface or does the boat now want to veer to starbord.
Anyway, how did you calculate the prop size to match your power plant?

Sorry it took so long to reply. Been working on my Skiff, trying to get her ready for our "big" trip to Canada with the ACBS group. The wedges are tapered from thin to 1/4" approximately 10 inches long and 2.5 inches wide and are mounted fore and aft (thin fore and thicker aft) to give the port side of the boat a "lift" when running. As for the prop size, there is a chart of sorts and I will look for it and try to send it to you or at least give information to you.

Seems that you have come up with a practical solution to the added torque. Any help with the prop sizing would be greatly appreciated.
