Subject: How do I identify this boat

I recently aquired an old Chris Craft Boat, but I dont know what model it is or the year. It is a lap streak so I assumed that it is a Sea Skiff, or did Chris Craft make another lap streak? Also, where do I look for the hull # and/or the engine #. I thought that these would be valuable in my investigation. Any help would be appreciated.

[> There should be a serial number on your engine, that might help identify your boat. The Mariner's Museum in Virginia has a wealth of information, and for a nominal fee, they can provide you with a hull card & other info on your boat, provided they have it. You can try this web address, www.mariner.org or if you need additional help I can try and get a phone number your. I believe they are located in Newport News, Virginia. Thanks for the info.
I have it narrowed down to a 54 or 55
Does anyone know of any good publications for a beginning boat restorer. Ive looked for Robert Spelz' Real Runabouts, but cant seem to find the first vol. available anywhere. Any Suggestions

[> [> I would try Wooden Boat Magazine, they have good tips, and they always seem to have lots of books in their book store that deal with restorations. I don't know much about restorations, maybe some of our other skiff owners will chime in! Like I said, the Mariner's Museum can provide you a "hull" card i.e. birth certificate for your boat, Good Luck! -- Jennifer, 22:18:14 02/04/03 Tue (dialup-65.58.20.25.Dial1.Atlanta1.Level3.net/65.58.20.25)
