A few teacher/judges will no doubt make a few £££s out of this, but will it actually help dancesport UK? Will the dancesport competitors gain in anyway?

If the sport does get a lot of new dancers, exactly who will benefit? will it just be harder to get lessons with good teachers? and will those same teachers charge even more for lessons? (as I suspect) The major deterrent for people wishing to enter dancesport is the huge cost, will that alter in a favourable manner if you get a new influx of people? I have serious doubts. But now is the time to lay plans to ensure that at least some of the money is spent to help the dancers! Too late once its in the pockets of the promoters/teacher/judges (BDC) etc.. They wont give it back.

My personal opinion, for what its worth, is--- that the sport needs to attract a paying audience to attend competitions. All profits from competitions to go to EADA SADA WADA for the benefit of the amateur dancers, With an income of that sort, dancesport UK could be transformed, and maybe we could help bring out the best in all our British dancers instead of making the promotors rich, and sending our dancers into bankruptcy!

This topic is being discussed on DancePlaza forums under "come dancing" if you prefer to add your comments there.
