It has to be said that this year the standard of offbeats was awful compared with the past two years that i have seen.
I agree with all the comments about them being boring and too long etc.
I don't know what a compromise situation would be as i would rather get home earlier and miss one really good offbeat, than sit through 10 lots of the same junk.
Also, you can't say that you have to have competed at SUDA/NUDA as some teams are not ready by then (for example Oxford's offbeat was only at IVDA last year and came second).
It would be great to get back to the quality offbeats like Sheffield's Circle of Life, Imperial's 'Thriller' and even Camb's Chicken Run, but if that can't be achieved, then scrap the whole thing. It's not dancesport and if there are enough people why not have an Offbeat national comp separately.
(Or hold the offbeat after the prize presentations and demo so we can go home early!)
If the choice is between maintaining the frenzied PVC-clad, pseudo-70's, poorly synchronized jigging around, or having fewer couples on the floor in the events that matter to the majority, I know which would get most people's vote!
