Did you actually read the discussion this was in reply to?

In summary the suggestion was:

- more people should enter advanced. As an incentive to good intermediates the 1st round rejects of the advanced are allowed to go into the 2nd round of the intermediate comp. The hope is that the top ~20 intermediates would have a go, in the knowledge they would not risk 1st round elimination. Some would succeed, the others would not have lost anything. Those that get to the 2nd round can celebrate that achievement and know that they are "better" than everyone in the intermediate comp.

Hence my point that if you're expecting to be a semi-finalists / finalist in the int. you would be expected to give it a go. No reason to shout at me...

>No one would ever ask Tris not to enter IVDA cos he
>won a lot a Sheffield, similarly with George from

But there is no higher level on the uni-circuit they could "dance up" to. The competition is for the "best uni-dancer" hence it's where the best uni-dancers go.

>Oxford, so why should a year's hard work at
>intermediate level be penalised if a couple actually

As you get better you should move up levels. This is not a penalty, it's a promotion. One reason I like the idea of letting the first round rejects from the advanced enter intermediate is that it takes away some of the risk associated with moving up.
