I had an interesting talk with one of my teachers last night. He regularly judges and is used to getting the required amount of numbers down in the time allocated. However, he says many judges who rarely adjudicate aren't used to making snap decisions and often end up taking numbers as you walk off the floor and even then don't have the required number (so make sure you walk off the floor confidently regardless of how you danced!). Perhaps when selecting judges, the organisers should make a conscious effort to select experienced ones? Uni comps are hard to judge with so many unknown competitors.
