Some comps do use a wireless marking pad type thingy which magically beams the results back to the scrutineer (and removes the need for runners). I believe the German Open uses it.
I have no idea of the cost or where to get the equipment but would it be possible for IVDA to invest and rent out the equipment to the other comp organisers until the cost is covered?
Just a thought.

I believe the scrutineer is obliged to be professionally qualified by the IVDA constitution, I think this should stay although that's not to say some of us lot can't get qualified! Scrutineering by hand is a pain but by computer it must be a doddle, whether using existing software or writing our own.
