We're sittin' on a volcano here. Reparations may have made sense when the people and companies involved in slavery WERE ACTUALLY STILL ALIVE!!! Points to ponder:

How exactly does one prove, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that they are the descendents of slaves? Do we dig up every corpse in the South (and maybe the US) for DNA testing? It is safe to assume that many, probably at least a majority, of blacks in the US are somehow descendents of someone who was at one time a slave, even if that person moved north in 1800, and has begotten 8 or 10 generations of free Americans. Come to think of it, who's to say that there were no blacks working for a bank in 1800's Boston or Philadelphia who may have been involved in slavery? Now this gets interesting, since you could technically be sued for AND suing for reparations....hmmm...
With the increasing segregation of cities such as Milwaukee, Philadelphia, and Jung's adopted home of Detroit, racial tension in this country is escalating. While I side with Kris in that this should not be allowed to happen, I will be interested to see what happens when logic and resistance prevail, and the reactionaries of ALL races come to blows....
