I was a bit annoyed to find that the stirling remains on upper commons in the peak district had been removed back in jan 2005.
Far better to leave these pices of aviation history in situ for people to ponder on and enjoy.
there is always going to be someone who feels obliged to take pieces back as souveniers.Ive stopped quite a few a people in the past, poised with hacksaws at the ready.
The stirling was definately one one of the best in the peak district, and their others, but Im going to keep quiet about them in case any other restoration groups get wind of them.
Leave the wrecks alone, and put the stirling pieces back.
