Hi Ian,

I could not agree more! to make matters worse many of these so called "restoration projects" come to nothing and the wreckage ends up being sold or scrapped, take for example Boston Z2186 which crashed on Carnedd Dafydd, the remains of the aircraft were removed by "The Boston Havoc Preservation Trust" who were at the time members of the BAAC,yet the wreckage has since been sold, and some of it scrapped.

Why do "recovery groups" think they have the right to remove wreckage and destroy these historic sites? I have been collecting information on the actions of some groups over the past few years and I think it's now time to publish this so it becomes known exactly what they do with wreckage and how they treat crash sites.

In the case of the Sterling do you know if a licence had been granted for removal of wreckage? who is the land owner?

Something needs to be done to protect crash sites from the groups, including those who are BAAC members.

Matt.
