We've followed this on the news, both Swedsih and German. Our foreign correspondents in America were all soaked and the wind was blowing so hard they could hardly stand still and speak properly as the rain was pouring down their faces into their mouths - yet they said they were on the lee side of some building. Scary to see roofs and walls fly away etc. as if those pieces were just light as paper and to hear about people being injured or even killed. I've never been to the USA, but now that there is this internet connection, it bothers me more if something happens close to people I'm in touch with and I hope those who might be affected are alright. May Kangi hide in her tank until the storm is over. Don't know where Chesapeake Bay is (will get myself a geography lesson today), but perhaps there's space for Bowdrill in the tank too.

Last summer (i.e. the one we just had) a farmer here collided with a power pole in the middle of one of his fields with his tractor. The electric wires snapped, fell down and put fire to the field. The farmer must have had a heat stroke that hot summer day of which we had so many that the grass stopped growing; why else would he hit this very spot in the middle of wide open spaces (if farmers want money from the insurance, they mostly don't risk their own lives...). Because of this we had no electricity off and on for a week and at times we did cook on our camping stove.
