Great story, Tso!

I suspect it takes nerves of steel to be a driver's license examiner. Just think of the knotheads you encounter daily on any road in any part of the US! And most of them actually have a valid driver's license!

Because I learned to drive in Los Angeles, freeway driving is in my blood. Doesn't matter how packed with cars, it doesn't bother me.

But there is one thought I can't allow to enter my mind when I drive, namely that my ability to proceed safely down this or any other road is totally dependent on every other person on that road being an alert, careful driver who is paying attention solely to his/her driving.

If I ever start thinking about that, I have to exit the freeway. Because I've seen people sail past me at 80 mph or more, simultaneously driving AND reading a newspaper, or yakking on their cell phone. I've seen women applying nail polish or peering into the rear-view mirror as they apply their make-up.

For some reason, this behavior is nearly always in the fast lane at high rates of speed. Darwin in action? :-)
