Last Sunday I did an old associate a favour and helped him out playing for his little team. Good enough to drive some of my fellow players to the game, the journy passed fairly well, except for the to be expected aged Sunday drivers, staggering along the road, choking the flow of traffic generally causing much aggro among the common road user.

Upon getting to the ground however my hopes were raised! Our spritly skipper, all decked out in his layers of jumpers and Bradmanesqe bunnet, had won the toss! Sadly this advantage was chucked away after he inserted them on a rock hard belter and hence the runs flowed like curry out of a nuns arse.

Come lunch a sizeable total had been set and in seeing this skip sent in the big boys at the top of the order to fight the good fight whilst he ran off down the order. Disipline was required and indeed some was shown as after a few early wickets a stand was set allowing for the possibility of a unlikely win if the lower order fired. Sadly they folded, and appart from the amusing thrashings of said number 11 against a varity of pure pie chuckers little entertainment was to be had. Throughout one young pup's hard earned knock not once reverse prod or chip to mid-on was to be seen. Indeed he even refrained from making any ludicrous 'seein it like a fitba' refrences. Refreshing!
