No I agree it is best he has stood down as ODI captain, and I do think this should benefit the test team. I just feel that there is a lack of appreciation on how difficult it will be to replace him.
I would be one of the first to agree that encouragement is very important, and that at times Hussain has been a little relucatant to give it. Yet these guys are test players. This is their living and frankly mental attitude is as important as ability. Some of the displays the test and ODI attack has turned in in the past 8 months suggets that individuals require to develop a bit more mental steel rather than wait for a pat on the back.
Just out of interst who would you make the new captain. It already seems like it'll be one of Vaughan, Trescothick, Hollioake or Collingwood. For me Collingwood would be clear of the rest
