Subject: compaq presrioa 1277 problem

I have a compaq presario 1277 laptop and i am having a problem with the cd drive. When i put a disk in i get a message that says the device is not ready. The computer has not been used in approx. 6 months, but it was working fine before. Does anyone know what might be causing this problem and what i could do to fix it?Thanks
