Subject: CDR101: not ready reading drive q

HI, how are you? I am trying to install windows 98 on my compaq
presario
710US laptop; since my CD drive is not working I have connected a CD
drive thru USB. When I put the windows 98 CD and After the hardware
configuration it gives me an "CDR101: not ready reading drive q (
abort,
retry, fail) " error, there is NOTHING wrong with the CD drive nor the
windows 98 CD because I have installed windows 98 with the same CD and
CD drive on another machine. So what could be the cause of this error
and how can I fix it ????????

any help would be appreciated
