i have the same model gateway solo 5300 useing a drake mb the light on the p/s is on and green and then when you plug in to the laptop the battery light that should be off with no batt orange with a charging batt and green with a full bat stays on weter there is a battery in or not if you have this problem there are 2 possible causes 1 the dc/dc board is bad or the mb/is bad in my case first i replaced the dc/dc board and that did not work just a wast of money so now if i want to fix this pc for my customer they will have to pay the $200.00-$299.00 for a new one unless i find it else where cheaper sorry for the bad news my customers hate it when i give it to them to hope this helps
