im having the same problem with my 9300 model,,the word is,,if you can see anythin on you screen yet it is very dim you need a new back lite on the lcd,,but if it is a white screen or black i would check your connections or you last resort would be a new inverter,,youc an replace the inverter but the back lite needs to bel ieft to professionals.

I think you blew a chip while watching the dvd,,I left my laptop for a few secs and my lcd screen was black..I hope this helps..btw there is a gateway forum,,they can give you more expertise there,,its under voy.com catergories
