*Gonff is dragged in rather unceremoniously. Unceremoniously. I like that word. Do you like that word? I like big words. I’d have to say one of my favorite words is “triskaidekaphobia.” It means the fear of the number thirteen.*
Gonff: *pokes Riv rather hard* Excuse me? Being dragged in here. Nobody really cares about your favorite word. Especially ones that nobody else can pronounce. Sheesh, stay on task! I’m the star here, you’ll recall.
*Sorry. My bad. But seriously, “unceremoniously?” You’ve gotta admit, it’s an awesome word.*
Gonff: Yes, it’s great. But-- *one of the large rat guards knocks him out.*
Large Rat Guard: No talking to the author while in custody. It’s a rule.
Gonff: *still talking, though unconscious* I highly doubt that. It’s so random… seriously, who would think to make a rule like that?
Large Rat Guard: I did. And it is a rule, it’s posted on the Rule Sign, right there. *points* And another rule is not to talk while you’re unconscious. *Thwonks Gonff again. See, I just made up another cool word. “Thwonk” It means to hit or bludgeon in some painful way, normally on the head. It’s also onomatopoetic, meaning that it sounds like what it is. Onomatopoeia is another one of my favorite words….*
Large Rat Guard: *Thwonks Riv.* And another rule is not to ramble, especially about stupid stuff.
Riv: But—
Large Rat Guard: Hey! Talking While Unconscious, Rule 2. *Thwonks Riv again*
Riv: *is quiet… for once. But she does write “Large Rat Guard walks away.” And he does. ‘Cause that’s how parodies work.*
Samkin: Hey! Unconscious mouse!
Gonff: Wha?
Samkin: I know how we can escape.
Gonff: A second ago, you weren’t even here. I know, I looked.
Samkin: Yeah, well, it’s magic.
Gonff: No it’s not. It’s about as likely that you would have come here by magic, as it is that we would be rescued by an army of mint tea leaves.
Samkin: Actually….
*An army of mint tea leaves enters the dungeons. I don’t know how… maybe magic?*
Samkin: It’s called the MTL Army. They’re surprisingly industrious and successful. Watch.
*Before Gonff’s astonished eyes, the MTL Army breaks down the door, subdues the rat guards with leaf-blades and bribes of mint tea, and gives Gonff and Samkin a military escort, complete with brass band and 21 gun salute, out of the castle unchallenged.*
Gonff: So… why didn’t you do that before I got here?
Samkin: Cuz. It’d be a shame to do all that and not have anybody see it. Oh, by the way, you’ve gotta go back.
Gonff: WHAT!?!?
Samkin: You’ve gotta go back. See, you’re a character.
Gonff: Why thank you!
Samkin: No, I mean you’re a character in a story. And as much as Riv is having fun messing with stuff, she isn’t allowed to mess up the plot of the book by Brian Jaques. It was Rule 4 on the Rule Sign. And BJ has you in the cell when Martin the Warrior gets thrown in with you, and you escape together. So you’ve gotta go back.
Gonff: So…. I have no free will, but am subject solely to the will of two separate authors?
Samkin: Pretty much, yeah. But don’t worry, at least one of them’s pretty good.
Gonff: *Blank Stare*
Samkin: Yeah, that’s pretty much how I felt when I found out. But either way, you’ve gotta go back. Bye bye, have fun! Don’t worry, you get out again.
Gonff: *Blank Stare*
Samkin: Um… you better start walkin’, bud.
Gonff: *Blank Stare*
Samkin: Uh… Riv ? A little help?
*Riv snorts awake, the pattern of her keyboard imprinted on her face. She wipes away a little drool.*
Riv: Sorry, my bad. *Writes* “Gonff proceeded to walk back into the castle and lock himself in the cell.” Happy?
Samkin: Very. Can I go now?
Riv: No. I’m enjoying this. It’s a power trip. *Writes* “Samkin stands precisely where he his, and does the chicken dance. While doing a handstand. And reciting the alphabet backwards, in pig latin.” Heehee… this is fun.
NO THREE QUESTIONS, SORRY. I’M TOO LAZY. AND BREAKING THE RULES IS A POWER TRIP.
