Mike, you're o.k. You just need some rest. You got used to the big boats. No harm there. Rule of thumb: Smaller boats, Shorter trips, Smaller fish. Remember, it's still all about fun. If your passengers aren't having a fun trip then it won't matter if you're catching 5 lb. fish or 200 lb. fish. Nature provides the fish; You provide the fun. Attitude rules all. You know that.

As for everyone else, I'll tell you from first-hand experience that I've seen Mike at work and I can tell from the whole tone of his letter (which Moby laughingly told me that I had to go check out) that he's blowing off steam tongue-in-cheek (and he looked unprofessional in the process). But, believe it or not :) ,he really is a very good guy and a sharp deckhand.

Sure rockcod may not be as glamorous as some other types of fishing (and that's just IMHO), but you go out there knowing you're not going to hook into a 50 lb. wahoo and get drug up the rail with your 30SW screaming in protest as its line peels off at 60 miles an hour. The bottom-line is that it's a break from the job and a time to go catch fish. Rockcod or YFT, THAT'S what matters most of all. And I know that at-heart Mike feels that way too.

As for the buck: some guys just tip a buck, some guys tip fifty. Some guys spend all their money on the trip and really can't afford to tip at all. No harm no foul.
