In reply to: ted 's message, "BLAKE'S LAVA CROWD ESTIMATE SCALED DOWN BY EVENT ORGANIZER" on 14:39:28 07/23/03 Wed

On the A2 CORRECTIONS:

"Up to 1,000 bikers and visitors participated in the Lava Love Run for the Sun Bike Rally in Soap Lake over the weekend, said organizer Mid Kreider."

COMMENTS:

#1. It says "up to" 1,000 bikers and visitors. Up to is not 1,000. Tricky wording clearly intended to CYA by the WWN.

#2. It says "bikers and visitors." Again, the "and" is a CYA. How many of each? Anyone who was there over the weekend, saw more people parked at John's and inside John's -- none being bikers -- and they all looked like local Soaplakers. Anyone sitting on the corner of Main Street and Highway 17 would have counted people gasing up at Shell, and people driving North and South on Highway 17, and would have counted far more non-bikers PASSING THROUGH town then reported in the WWN story by Michelle Partridge -- or the A2 correction.

#3. It says "participated." What is participated? Surely, the sponsors of the event would have required "participants" to register to participate in the Love Run up to the Coulee, as well as the Poker Draw. Participants got to draw cards, at different locations on the way up to the Coulee Damn. At each location, registered bikers, assigned a registration # drew a card which was recorded.

Pressumably, the best hands received some sort of prize after the Love Run. How would they have known who drew what cards, etc., without "participants" registering? Why did Michelle Partridge, the reporter, not cite the number of registered bikers? Anyone there would have seen fewer then half the bikers with a rider. Hence, at best, take the number of registered bikers time & a half, and Michelle would have had a "believable" "documented" number of "bikers and visitors" who can be believed to have participated.

#4. It said "over the weekend." Cute. The masters of deception use this technique often. Social service agencies use this approach all the time. So do non-profit SoLaLaLa's when applying for grant funds. Example of an agency applying for a grant:

They might serve food to 10 needy people a day. They serve food to the S A M E ten people each day over a month's time. In the grant application, the group CLAIMS they served food to 300 people a month, or 3.600 people over the past year. Very impressive. Its not out of the question for many to go farther with their exagerations, actually claiming they served 10,800 meals to 3,600 people in the past year. How is that possible. Simple. They serve an appetizer, a lunch and dessert, making it 3 meals, times 300 people a month, or 900 meals serve in a month's time. IMPRESSIVE. Who is going to question the numbers?

If there were 200 bikers driving around Soap Lake, and half had a rider, that would make it 300 bikers and riders on Friday. The same bikers and riders on Saturday and Sunday make it a total of 1,200 bikers and riders over the weekend, the event having been held Friday-Saturday-Sunday.

So there you have it. The Masters of Deception and those who promote scams know how to fool the willing media looking for a story; the real story being intentionally ignored as it is politically incorrect. It doesn't sell papers to report that the City of Soap Lake is broke, had to sell the ambulance, can't pay for the sewer treatment, has to turn off street lights, can't afford repairing street potholes, has to charge 400% more for water then Lakeview, with the same number of customers as Soap Lake.

#5. It said "Said Mid Kreider." Mid Kreider lives in Electric City, and spends her time selling Expresso at her trailer on the South side of town, heading out toward Ephrata. Anyone there over the weekend would not have seen Mid Kreider anywhere near anything at the Lava Love event. She was at her trailer selling coffee. What would she know about the number of "participants."? It's a FARCE to quote her as the estimator. Since when is someone who wasn't even there outside to see, and CO-SPONSOR of the event, an objective "estimator" of how many "bikers and visitors" participated?

At the end of the day: the WWN correction is a piece of FICTION which nobody can believe. But then -- Hillary Clinton had three strangers write her piece of FICTION, and it has become a best seller, and it is not sold in the FICTION section of any book store.

VERY WELL PUT. THERE ARE A LOT OF HO-HUMMERS IN SOAP LAKE THAT CAN'T SEE THE FOREST FOR THE TREES. SCAMMERS DEPEND ON PREYING ON THE WEAK.

The scammers may appear to have fooled the WWN and other media, but they have not. Soap Lakians are also not fooled. It is no accident that locals stay clear of the goofball icon promoters and their groupies. Nobody has been fooled. The Giant Lava Lamp was dead on arrival with the first front page article ever published. The scammists, the Soap Lake City Council, the good Mayor, and all the "gimme" crowd at Soap Lake, will all find out they lost the game long ago. This realization will not materialize until the self-promoters dig a bigger hole for themselves, and their me-too crowd, before the bunco scheme is exposed for good. All good things take time.

GOOD REPORTING SHERLOCK. PROMOTORS PAD AND WHITEWASH EVERYTHING TO MAKE IT LOOKER BETTER AND BIGGER THAN IT IS: TRICKS OF THE TRADE. BELIEVE IT OR NOT: SOAP LAKE HAS "ELITE" TOURIST ACCOMODATIONS? ...SLCOC. COULD THE SLCOC HAVE SOAP LAKE CONFUSED WITH BADIN BADIN, GERMANY? I ALWAYS THOUGHT SOAP LAKE HAD 100 PLEASANTLY MODEST ROOMS. NEWS TO ME. BY THE WAY SHERLOCK, I NEGLECTED TO TELL YOU THAT I CAUGHT THE BIGGEST MARLIN EVER RECORDED IN HISTORY RIGHT OFF THE SHORE OF SOAP LAKE WITH MY BARE HANDS ON PALM SUNDAY.
