Subject: WACKY $25 MILLION SAGA

Though the proponents "claim" the project was started in May of 2002, the first any Soap Lake taxpayers, residents and people heard anything about it was in the Ephrata newspaper in late September, early October.

As far as receiving support of civic leaders of the City of Soap Lake, the City Council provided no information whatever to its citizens, held no public hearing and the whole process was a private lobbying effort behind closed doors between the proponents and selected members of the city council.

The economic, social and political problems in the Soap Lake area are self-generated and those applying for this funding have not done their homework. Were they to do the homework, they would soon discover that the structure they are proposing would require numerous permits, environment studies, and face major roadblocks, which they conveniently fail to address for obvious reasons.

The Lava Lamp involves high heat, high energy, and safety hazards to life and property. They are talking about disruption to wildlife, airwave disruptions due to electromagnetic frequencies that may be emitted and great potential hazards to aviation. The proposed Giant Lava Lamp requires compliance with EPA / DOE, FAA, and other state and federal agencies regulations concerned for the environment, wildlife, property, and public safety.
