Re: $25 MILLION GIANT SOAP LAKE LAVA LAMP -- shannon401, 08:22:37 01/22/03 Wed
Most proposals on roadsideamerica are really nothing more than shady ideas. Here are a few of the strangest ones. In Louisville, Kentucky a foundation wants to build the world's largest Jesus, a 150-feet tall statue standing on a globe. This project stalled. In Buffalo, New York a Magician and Maharishi want to build a park, a Veda Land with a levitating building, flying chariots and other wonders that will attract the New Age groupies. The only thing that happened with that idea in 10 years was that the Magician passed on. In Frostburg, Maryland a Pastor was told by Jesus to build a 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet high ark. This got about as far as halfway, it was a build as God provides kind of deal.
{Sept. 1, 2002} Brent Blake assures the public. re: "project is real and in funding and feasibilty studies." Will this idea also enter the stalled stage.
Things seem to have stalled out for these entreprenuers, whom have taken up money for their causes.

People need to be very careful when someone approaches them for donations. (a) ask to see their pro-spectus (b) ask if they are registered with the state you live in. (c) ask to see paperwork. (d) many cities prohibit door-to-door solicitaions and are protected by the green river ordinance. (e) be prepared to lose your money in case you have been defrauded. (f) If you don't know the laws call the Secretary of State. Most states offer a toll-free Hotline. In Washington State the number is 1-800-332-GIVE. This will you get you further information about organizations that can accept donations from the public. You can obtain valuable information regarding their financial status and activities prior to donating.

Speaking of unfinished projects I heard that to achieve inner peace you have to finish things you started. So today I finished off 3 bags of Natchos, 2 german chocolate cakes, a pan of jello, a small bag of candy and strangled the living heck out of someone I didn't like. I tell you it really works, I feel better already.

An initial step to fund the lava giant failed. The project suffered a fatal blow when it was found to have a dark underside. The project sought public funding, state money to study the feasibility of building a giant lava lamp. Funding application ran into hot water, the $850,000.00 requested for the project's phase 2, "complete enginering and feasability studies" was stalled.
