I would like to take the time to make my case for the Big Bopper to be in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. Some would say his career was too short or that he only had one big hit and one smaller hit, but that is not really the case. The following reasons are why I think he needs to be in the hall of fame:

1. He wrote hundreds of songs-maybe he didn't get to record them all, but he sure wrote a lot. He was very prolific.

2. The term "music video". Even if he did not coin this term (some claim he did, others claim he didn't), he was still pushing for the idea as a way to promote songs. He was very much on the ball during the development of rock and roll in the 50s.

3. He had more than two hits. Sure...we all know Chantilly Lace and Big Bopper's Wedding, but what about White Lightning (a country music standard), Beggar To A King (Country hit for Hank Snow), Running Bear (for Johnny Preston, which features the Bopper's vocals), Preacher and the Bear (a hit for Jerry Reed) and Someone Watching Over You, which was recorded by many gospel artists and Treasure Of Love (a hit for George Jones). That is eight hit songs right there that he recorded or wrote in a very short time.

4. He set a record for the longest time broadcasting. During the early days of rock and roll, he set a record for being continuously on the air longer than any other DJ. I am sure this drew attention to the music when he was doing the broadcast.

This post is just my opinion, but I do feel he had a bigger career than what many people think he had.
