To the New writers of the new season--You blew it!

To the writers: You blew it bigtime.

Let me guess. You decided that you wanted more of the teen market. So, you hired what you thought were new, young "hip" writers. Where the hell is David Kelley? I am so disappointed in the new episodes of Boston Public I could cry.

After consistent excellence in all the prior shows, the new season has started off with a drop in quality so glaring, your former fans will leave in droves! The plots of the first two shows are utterly silly, and unbelievable, and the interactions between teachers and students are shallow and contrived. Apparently, the new writers haven't watched many of the earlier shows, because, the actions of our familiar primaries are now charicatures of themselves or totally OUT of character!

The principal has established his compassion and respect for the teachers many times over. His personality last season was vivid, real and utterly believable. There would be no shock on the part of any of the teachers at his attempt to praise his colleagues, nor would the highly intelligent young woman who is suddenly his girlfriend (where did THAT come from?) start treating him with stereotypical "fix him" behavior.. The friendship between the principal and vice-principal has been already been established in prior episodes as very deep, affectionate, and very real. There would be no awkwardness between them or doubt as to whether one was fired.

I wish you could see how transparent the age, or at the very least, the level of intellect and life experience of your writers is to anyone who ever taught in a public school. Hell, to anyone who is deeper than a facial pore! From ultra-realism that showed truthfully the very real kinds of problems a teacher encounters, we now have silly and sensationalist plots like "I'm a man in a woman's body", or teacher's baring their breasts to motivate a student! Give me a break! The genius of your writers is their managing to create plots that are both trendy-trashy and cliche in one stroke. No professional counsellor would think a child with a psychotic break after an electrocution should stay in school until undergoing a period of careful observation and tests in a hospital! You trump up this garbage so you can sell fundamentalist theology without even doing a little basic research?!!!

I find putting words in the mouth of "Jesus" denouncing evolution personally offensive to MY religious beliefs. It outrages me to have more simplistic and ignorant fundamentalist dogma pushed down my throat, especially in a program I used to respect as a class-act production. Your "Christian" writers have pushed their way into a fine program and turned it into shallow, silly crap.

But worst of all, this is simply AWFUL, AWFUL writing! What have you done to my favorite program?!
