Boy do I know what you are going through!! I get all those side effects from weaning down too!! I take muscle relaxants and pain meds when I am weaning down on the prednisone. Also, since weaning down makes your body THINK that you are dehydrating, make sure to drink LOTS of fluids...I know that is hard when you are so nauseas. You may also want to ask your doc about an anti-emetic, like zofran (which has very few/no central nervous system side effects). I do LOTS of meditation/relaxation exercises when I am going through the drops. The lower your dose, the harder the drop. It is much better for your body if, from now on, you drop SLOWLY!! Ask you doctor what the best weaning schedule you BOTH can agree on. Make sure that once you hit the 7 mg mark you have your AM cortisol level and ACTH checked to make sure those adrenal glands are starting to work again. No use putting yourself into crisis over a drop...trust me, it is NOT worth it!! Also, this may seem silly, but during my drops, I tend to color in a coloring book (really because I am not artistic) but this method is used by cancer patients undergoing chemo and it seems to be very helpful.

If you need to talk/vent/ask questions, please feel free...we are all here to help!!!

Ivy
