Glad to see you back! Guess I'll put in my 2 cents re: Imuran. My endo finally agreed to let me try it after much pleading on my part as I was having a lot of difficulty weaning off the pred. He started me on 50 mg a day and I took it for the first 3 days and thought I was tolerating it well. After the 3rd dose I became VIOLENTLY ill (nausea/vomiting) and even taking Phenergan did not help. Then they switched my dose to 50 mg every other day, but still had the severe n/v and even taking Phenergan with it didn't help. I'm not sure if I am just extremely sensitive to this med or what, but he has now prescribed the 6-MP at 25 mg every other day and I just got the Rx filled yesterday. I have to admit, I am very hesitant to go forward with this med just because of my reaction to the Imuran. To complicate matters, I have a very demanding (i.e. stressful) job and people depend on me to be there. If only I could take a month off to give these meds a chance to possibly work and ride out the side effects! I really had high hopes that this would work for me, especially seeing how well Ivy has done with it. Also, as Ivy stated, it is critically important you have your blood work closely monitored while taking either of these meds. Again, this was just MY experience...everyone reacts differently I'm sure and there are definitely success stories....just not sure if I am going to be one of them.
